About the Artist: I am a self-taught artist. My father-in-law was moving out of state and he had some oil paint, brushes and canvas and he gave them to me. I asked him what I was going to do with them, he replied "paint, of course". I told him that I couldn't even draw a stick much less paint, however, he said "just do it", so I did. My first painting was an abstract which I still have hanging in my bedroom. I really like paintings by Van Gogh and Monet. Besides painting I enjoy taking digital pictures. One of my photos that I took of my granddaughter in 2003 playing in the fall leaves was published in the paper by the Barberton Harold. They entitled it "Just Leaving".
I first started painting in 1999 but stopped for a couple of years. In 2003 I began painting again and haven't stopped. Initially I started painting just to relax and now I just love it. The imagination can be quite phenomenal, creating whatever it is that it might lead you to paint, freeing the mind. I do prefer oil painting the most, although I try other mediums every now and then, painting on canvas and slate.
Painting Mediums - Oils, acrylics, soft pastels and watercolors. Folk art Toll oil on slate.
